Craniosacral Therapy is a profoundly calming therapy. It pervades the whole person, physically, mentally and emotionally. It is soothing comforting and pleasant, creating a sense of ease, calmness and well being.
 
The treatment involves lying face up on a massage table while fully clothed. No oils or painful manipulation is needed. The therapist will commonly place hands on the head, the spine, the sacrum and any other relevant areas. Children are treated in whatever place and position they are comfortable. This may be the floor, or on a couch or massage table. Bringing a distracting toy can be a useful distraction.
 
Craniosacral therapy uses the light touch of the therapist to encourage the body to gently heal itself. The therapist focuses on the subtle rhythmic motions which reflect the movement of the cerebrospinal fluids around the brain and spine. This motion is so subtle that it is barely measurable. A therapist will use it to facilitate a deep healing process. The treatment is aimed at providing a release of membrane and soft tissue restrictions and to establish a balanced rhythm.
